GOVERNMENT TO REVAMP SCHOOL SPORTS

The Minister for Youth and Sports, Hon. Mahama Ayariga has reiterated that government is ready to reposition school sports to unearth talents to represent the country in international competitions.

The Hon. Minister made this statement when he met with representatives from the Ghana Education Service (GES) last Friday, August 1, 2014 to discuss how best the Ministry and the GES could collaborate to reposition school sports.

The Minister revealed that government is ready to develop sports infrastructure from the Junior High Schools to the Senior High Schools to help promote and develop sport in the country.

The Minister noted that schools competitions like; inter-schools competitions has been on a low key and it is the vision of the Ministry to rejuvenate such games to unearth talents at the grass root level.

MINISTRY OF YOUTH AND SPORTS INAUGRATES COMMISSION OF INQUIRY

MOYSThe Ministry of Youth and Sports (MoYS) has inaugurated the three member Commission of Inquiry set up by the President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, to look into events that led to Ghana’s early exit from the FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

Members of the Commission are; Hon, Senyo Dzamefe (Justice of Court of Appeal-Chairman), Moses Foh-Amoaning (Esq.Lawyer and Sports Administrator) and Kofi Anokye Owusu Darko (Banker and Sports Enthusiats). They were sworn into office by Justice Akamba from the Supreme Court.

YOUTH AND SPORTS MINISTER INSPECTS CAPE COAST SPORTS STADIUM

cape coast 2Cape coast 2The Minister for Youth and sports, Hon. Mahama Ayariga, the Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Sun Baohong, and the MCE for Cape Coast, Ms. Priscilla Arhin over the weekend, paid a working visit to the Cape Coast Sports Stadium to inspect progress of work there.

H.E Sun Baohong stated that she was happy to accompany the Minister to inspect the stadium adding that the visit was an evident of the strong bond between Ghana and China.

MINISTRY OF YOUTH AND SPORTS TO ORGANIZE NATIONAL CONFERENCE ON SPORTS FINANCING IN GHANA

The Ministry of Youth and Sports will organize a National Sports Conference on Sports Financing in Ghana on Friday 8th August, 2014 at the Movenpick Hotel. This was made known when the Minister for Youth and Sports, Hon. Mahama Ayariga met with members of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) in his office on Thursday 24th July, 2014 to discuss a number of issues.

The Hon. Minister disclosed that the objective of the Conference was to bring together all key stakeholders to discuss sustainable sponsorships for all the sporting disciplines in Ghana for enhanced performance.

THE CHINESE AMBASSADOR TO GHANA CALLS ON THE MINISTER FOR YOUTH AND SPORTS

dscn5426The Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, H.E Sun Baohong paid a courtesy call on the Minister for Youth and Sports, Hon. Mahama Ayariga at his office on Tuesday, July 15, 2014 to discuss how the two countries can collaborate in the areas of Youth and Sports development.
 
H.E. Baohong reiterated Ghana’s long standing relationship with her country and said her government was ready to deepen that relationship, especially in the field of Sports and Youth development.
