INAUGURATES LOCAL ORGANISING

The Minister for Youth and Sports, Hon. Isaac Kwame Asiamah has inaugurated an 11 -member Local Organising Committee(LOC) to ensure that Ghana successfully organize and host the 2018 Africa Women’s Championship.

The formation of the Local Organising Committee (LOC) follows the relay of the hosting baton from Cameroon to Ghana as the host of the 2018 Africa Women Championship in October.
The 11-member Committee has the Member of Parliament(MP) for Tano North, Hon. Freda Prempeh as the Chairperson, the former GFA Vice President, Mr. Fred Crentsil as Vice Chairman and the Former GFA General Secretary, Mr. kofi Nsiah as the Chief Operating Officer(COO).
The rest are; Mr. Nadel F. Majdoub, Madam Frances Abena Koranteng Agadzi, Hon. Alex K. Agyekum, Madam Evelyn Nsiah Asare, Madam Leanier A. O. Addy, Mr. Felix Ansong, Hon. Kwadwo Baah Agyeman, and Madam Mawuse Woka.

The Minister was hopeful that the “finest brains in our football administration’’ that have been selected in consultation with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) would be able to deliver a world class tournament on behalf of the country.

While counting on the LOC’s initiatives to deliver beyond expectations, Hon. Isaac Kwame Asiamah also proposed for consideration the formation of sub-committees namely; Opening and Closing Ceremonies, Accommodation and Transport, Technical and Venue, Protocol and Ticketing, Security and Accreditation and Finance and Sponsorship as well as a special Ministerial Committee to be known as “Host and Win” Committee.

The Minister for Youth and Sports observed that the hosting of the AFCON Women’s Championship provides an excellent opportunity for Ghana to convince the world that the country is the preferred destination to organise and host international mega-sporting events.
