DR. MUSTAPHA AHMED PAYS WORKING VISIT TO WESTERN AND CENTRAL REGIONS

The Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. Mustapha Ahmed, has paid a two-day working visit to the Western and Central Regions, as part of his nation-wide fact finding tour to inspect Sporting facilities and Youth Institutions under his Ministry.

His visit took him to the Essipon Sports Stadium, the Sekondi Gyandu Park, Sekodi Youth Centre, the St Peter’s Sports Academy, a private sporting facility and the Abura-Ahanta Youth Leadership and Skills Training Institute, all in the Western Region.

The rest include the Robert Mensah Sports Stadium, a new Sports Stadium under construction in Cape Coast, the Ajumako-Afranse Youth Leadership and Training Institute and the Swedru Sports Stadium all in the Central Region.

The Minister took note of the various facilities and said considering the investments made they must nit be allowed to deteriorate and hinted of possible public private partnership in the area of investment to ensure that the country benefits from them.

He praised the workers for their hard work and urged them to continue to give out their best. he also asked the Regional Directors of Sports and Coordinators of the Youth Training Institutes implored to compile reports on the state of their facilities and channel them through their mother agencies for prompt action.

At the Robert Meansah Sports Stadium and the Sports Stadium at Agona-Swedru where the grass on both parks was not properly kept due to the breakdown of their lawn mowers the Minister promised he would take immediate steps to acquire mowers for them.

At the new Cape Coast Sports Stadium, Dr. Ahmed was happy about work done so far but suggested to the contractors working on the project to raise the fence wall in order to prevent people from climbing over.

The Minister was taken round on his tour by Mr. Beresford Amui (Western Regional Director of Sports), Mr. Joe Appiah (Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Youth Officer), Mr. Wilson (Central Regional Director of Sports), Mr. Henry Adu (Municipal Coordinator of the National Youth Authority, Agona West) and Mr. George Gbinya (Regional Consultant, AESL).
