The Minister for Youth and Sports, Hon. Elvis Afriyie-Ankrah on behalf of Government and the good people of Ghana sends a goodwill message to the National U17 team, the Black Starlets in the ongoing 2013 Africa Junior Championship in Morocco.

In a message to the team, the Hon. Minister says the team’s loss to Nigeria in the opening group match should not discourage them from winning against Congo on Wednesday, April 17th, and against Cote D’Ivoire on Saturday 20th April, to qualify to the next stage of the competition and also represent the continent at the FIFA U17 World Cup to be hosted by the United Arab Emirates in October this year.

Hon. Afriyie-Ankrah says “I must acknowledge the fighting spirit of the team despite the odds and commend them for their commitment to fly high the flag of Ghana at the Tournament. I am confident that they would win their remaining matches and prove their mettle as two-time World Champions.

It is my belief that Coach Paa Kwesi Fabin and his technical staff as well as the players have corrected all their flaws and are ready tactically to improve their performance to win the ultimate in the competition for mother Ghana” The Hon. Minister says.

He expressed appreciation to the Technical and Management teams of the Team for their hard work and tasked them to ensure that the team was well prepared for the other group matches.

Finally, Hon. Afriyie-Ankrah used the opportunity to kindly appeal to every Ghanaian to remember the Black Starlets in their prayers as we have always done to ensure that the team wins the tournament.
