The Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Hon Joseph Yammin has urged Coaches and Trainers of colt’s football to concentrate on training of our young talents on goal scoring.
The Deputy Minister said this in an address delivered at the National Kick-off of the 2013 edition of the Airtel Rising Stars project at Sunyani over the weekend.
He was particularly worried about the failure of our football teams to score from spot kicks at crucial moments of the game. “Goal scoring, especially penalty kicks, has become the most disturbing bane of our National Teams in recent past”, he said.
Hon. Joseph Yammin further encouraged the “…coaches and trainers who would be in charge of the final teams to take goal scoring as a priority in building these young talents especially the strikers for a successful carrier with our teams.”
He also restated the Ministry’s commitment to discover and nurture talented male and female footballers under the age of 17 years who otherwise would have gone unnoticed and untapped.
He assured Airtel Ghana Limited, the Organizers of the project that the “Ministry of Youth and Sports through the Ghana Football Association will consider the proposal of integrating the products of the tournaments into our Junior National Teams”.
