The Minister for Youth and Sports, Hon Elvis Afriyie-Ankrah has made a donation to the Demonstration School for the Deaf at Mampong and the School for the Blind at Akropong, all in the Eastern Region on Thursday 10th October, 2013.
The donation included food items and also a cash donation of GHC2, 000 to both institutions.
Addressing the students of the School for the deaf, which was his first stop, the Minister stated that the donation was on behalf of the Ministry of Youth and Sports and also on behalf of the Black Stars, the senior national football team.
Hon Afriyie-Ankrah indicated that the donations was in response to an appeal made by the School authorities, adding that he was glad to have responded to their appeal.
He then asked the students to pray for the Black Stars, who have a match against the Pharaohs’ of Egypt on Tuesday, 15th October, 2013, to which they did in sign language.
At the School for the Blind, a rendition of commentary on the match by one of the students, who predicted a 3-0 scoreline in favour of the Black Stars, got the Minister and his entourage highly elated.
Both schools thanked the Minister for coming over to support them and said they would utilise the donated items to the full benefit of the students.
