The Minister for Youth and Sports, Hon. Elvis Afriyie Ankrah has sent out his usual powerful goodwill message to the Black Stars ahead of their African Nations Championship (CHAN) campaign in South Africa.

The tourney begins on Saturday, 11th January, 2014 and ends on Saturday 1st February, 2014.

Ghana will be making its third appearance at the tournament since its inception in 2009 after placing 2nd in the inaugural tournament in the Ivory Coast and being eliminated in the first round at Sudan 2011.

The goodwill message is expected to be delivered to the team ahead of kick off by the Deputy Youth and Sports Minister, Hon. Joseph Yamin who is representing the Minister in South Africa.

After a resounding FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign jointly masterminded by the Youth and Sports Ministry and the Ghana Football Association, the Minister has called on the players, officials and staff of the Black Stars to tap into that motivation and bring honour to the country.

”Ghana is not just another team looking for results in South Africa, we are triple World Cup qualifiers and any time we play expectations are very high. This should motivate our boys to go all out and maintain our growing reputation in World football”

With Coach Maxwell Konadu in charge, the Black Stars are seeking to better the records of the CHAN teams of 2009 and 2011. The Black Stars are in Group C and will be facing the Libya, Ethiopia after Congo.
