The Colombian Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Claudia Turbay Quintero has paid a courtesy call on the Minister for Youth and Sports, Hon. Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, at his offices on Friday, 23rd May, 2014.
The visit was to explore areas in the field of Youth and Sports beneficial to both countries.
H.E. Quintero, in her opening remarks stated that Colombia and Ghana had a lot in common and believed that the two countries could develop a strong link to build on that cooperation.
She indicated that Colombia run a Sports Diploma Programme for their youth and as part of their training, they were sent abroad for sports exchange programmes to broaden their horizon and shape their intellectual frontiers.
Hon. Afriyie Ankrah thanked the Ambassador for the visit and stated that the Ministry would set up a technical team to work out the modalities of how the two countries could collaborate in terms of youth and sports development.
Present were Mr. Ras Mubarak, National Co-ordinator of the National Youth Authority; Mr Joe Kpenge, Director, National Sports College, Winneba; and Ms Alice Attipoe, Acting Director-General, National Sports Authority; who took turns to brief the Colombian Ambassador on their activities.
