Apart of efforts to promote sports and youth development in the country, the ministry of Youth and Sports (MoYS) is set to upgrade the Kaneshie Sports Complex now Azumah Nelson Sports Complex.
To ensure this, an amount of GH¢1million is to be released for the upgrading of facilities at the Sports Complex.
This was made known when the Hon. Minister of Youth and Sports, Mahama Ayariga and his deputy, Hon. Vincent Oppong Asamoah paid a working visit to the National Youth Authority (NYA) which is housed at the complex.
The delegation from the ministry inspected various facilities and field at the complex and also called on the management of the NYA.

Hon. Ayariga said the President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E John Dramani Mahama was committed to the promotion of the physical fitness in the country through his ministry.
He added the upgrading of the Sports Complex will promote sports development and also serve the youth of Kaneshie and its environs to have a place for their sporting activities.
He said he would invite the Engineering Regiment of the Ghana Armed Forces to undertake a comprehensive assessment of the facility to pave way for work to commence as soon as possible.
Hon. Mahama Ayariga disclosed that plans were far advanced to launch a nationwide keep fit campaign with the aim of encouraging every community in Ghana to have a keep fit club.
The National Coordinator for the National Youth Authority, Ras Mubarak thanked the Minister for his visit and assured him of his outfit’s readiness to work closely with the Ministry to promote youth activities in the country.
