The Minister for Youth and Sports, Hon. Mahama Ayariga, yesterday, inspected the factory premises of a local football manufacturing company, Alive & Kicking Ghana located at the Spintex Road in Accra.
He was taken through the processes of producing the balls and also toured other facilities of the company together with the Country Director of the company, Mr. Chris Roe.
Hon. Ayariga commended the efforts of the local company for taken an initiative to produce footballs made entirely from local materials on a large scale.
He stated that the move was in line with H.E. President John Dramani Mahama’s campaign to promote made in Ghana products.
The Minister said that he was pleased that the company was providing jobs for the youth, especially the physically challenged, and urged them to take advantage of the huge resources in the football industry.
He also encouraged them to make plans of expansion to the other regions in the country.
Mr. Chris Roe thanked the Hon. Minister for his visit and used the occasion to appeal to Ghanaians to patronise the football.
He stated that the company produced over 1,200 sports balls per month and that they were looking forward to increasing it to over 2,000 balls in the future.
