The Minister for Youth and Sports, Hon. Mahama Ayariga has officially launched the ‘Tornado Ball’ at a colourful event held at the British High Commissioner’s residence in Accra yesterday.
The tornado ball, manufactured by Alive & Kicking, is named after Stephen Appiah, the ex-Captain of the senior national football team, the Black Stars.
Hon Ayariga expressed joy at the project, noting that all the materials used in the ball’s manufacture was locally acquired, adding that most of the labour force was physically challenged.
He pledged the Ministry’s support for the initiative and urged corporate Ghana to rally behind the made in Ghana campaign.
The Country Director of Alive & Kicking, Mr Chris Roe stated that company produces 3,000 balls per month adding that all the materials used in making the ball was tailored to suit the African condition.
The British High Commissioner, H.E. .Jon Benjamin expressed the hope that the ball will be used by all schools in the country.
