The IBF Intercontinental lightweight and Commonwealth Lightweight boxing champion, Richard Commey, has presented his two titles to the Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. Mustapha Ahmed, at his office in Accra.
Richard Commey who has won 20 of his 22 professional fights by way of knockouts told the minister he was happy to have won the IBF Intercontinental Lightweight title to his Commonwealth lightweight title.
Commey won the title when he defeated Bahodir Mamadjonov from Uzbekistan in Las Vegas, USA. The boxer thanked Ghanaians for told the minister he was looking forward to winning a world title in the future. The Minister congratulated Commey for winning the title and expressed the hope he would win more laurels for the country in future.
Hon. Dr. Mustapha Ahmed advised the young boxer to work hard to achieve greater heights but not to get complacent because he represents not only himself but also Ghana.
The minister pledged his ministry’s support for the boxer in future. Commey was accompanied by his trainer, Lawrence Carl Lokko and other members of the Bronx Boxing Gym. Also present were the Chief Director of the ministry, Mr. Victor Senaya, the Director of Sports, Mr. Osei Agyen and the Director of Administration, Alhaji Rex Sumani.
