Three corporate institutions, Phoenix Insurance Company,   Oman Fofor Trading Company Limited     and, IAS FedEx Express   have donated various items   and cash to the Ministry of Youth and Sports at different ceremonies towards the successful hosting of the Millennium Marathon slated for September, 2015.

Phoenix Insurance Company provided $75,000.00 insurance cover for all the runners and organizers and Ten Thousand Ghana(GHc10,000.00)cedis cash; Oman Fofor/Cannon donated cameras, photo-printers and cash in the sum of Thirty Thousand Ghana(GHc30,000.00)cedis and IAS FedEx a cash donation of Fifteen Thousand Ghana(GHc15,000.00)cedis.

The donations were made by Michael Okyere,Head of Marketing, Phoenix Insurance; Nathaniel Lamptey, Sales Manager of Oman Fofor and Robert Adu-Poku, Sales & Marketing Manager of FedEx on behalf of their respective companies.

They were all happy to associate with the Millennium Marathon  and wished the event great success.

Receiving the items on behalf of the Ministry, the Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Hon. Vincent Oppong Asamoah thanked the three companies for their support for the event. He said sports development was key on the agenda of Government but this could only be realized when corporate organizations partner with Government and appealed to corporate institutions for support for sports.

The Deputy Minister pointed out that even though all the sporting disciplines need support, he believes disabled sports needs critical support. He also commended the National Disabled Soccer Team, the Black Giants for their good display at the curtain raiser during the Asante Kotoko –Hearts of Oak President’s Cup Match on Republic Day at the Accra Sports Stadium.

 

Present at the ceremony were Mr. Osei-Agyen, Director of Sports, Mr. Oteng, Chief Accountant both of MoYS and Mr. Ashim Morton, Managing Partner of the Millennium Marathon Initiative, organizers of the event.
