The Ghana National Men’s Tennis Team, the Black Rackets has won the first Gold Medal for Team Ghana in the Men’s Double category, of the ongoing All Africa Games in Congo Brazzaville.
The Ghanaian duo comprising Wisdom Na-Adjrago and George Darko has by 11.00 am local time, broke the jinx by defeating the Democratic Republic of Congo Team made up of Deni Indondo and Sarma Kulufa in two straight sets of 6-4,6-4 to bring joy to Ghana’s contingent.
The game which started the previous day, had to be postponed to the following day due to poor visibility. By then, the Ghanaian team had won the first set by 6-4.
The Congolese had high hopes of winning the match because of the presence of Deni Indondo who had earlier won gold in the men’s singles category against a Beninoise was in their team playing against Ghana.
The combined force of the Congolese pair was no match for the dazzling performance of the Ghanaian duo. By this achievement, the tennis team has opened the way for possible gold medal win for Team Ghana in the rest of the events.
Team Ghana is presently in a very hopeful mood.
