The Minister for Youth and Sports, Dr. Mustapha Ahmed has congratulated Ghana’s contingent to the 2015 All Africa Games for their sterling performance at the tournament.
He also praised them for winning laurels for the country and said by their achievement, they have done the nation proud.
Speaking to the press at the Kotoka International Airport at the head of a delegation to welcome Ghana’s contingent back home from Congo Brazzaville,

Dr Mustapha Ahmed said he was thankful to God for bringing the Team safely back home and also thanked the entire nation for their prayers.

He said the Team has won two gold medals, nine silver medals and eight bronze medals and this collective achievement gives a lot to celebrate about.

“We can see that majority of the sports men and women who did not even win medals have had an opportunity to pile up points that would also take them high up in the ranking for subsequent events”, he noted.

The Minister pointed out that with the Olympic Games coming up next year, the All Africa Games has been a very useful platform for our sportsmen and women to train and prepare themselves towards the event.

He also thanked the media for their support in developing and promoting sports in Ghana and appealed to them to continue their partnership with the Ministry for the benefit of sports development in Ghana in general.

Dr Mustapha Ahmed said that in spite of all the financial challenges, a lot of teamwork, communication, understanding and unity has to a large extent, contributed to the success of Team Ghana and urged them to continue in the same high spirits.
