The Minister for Youth and Sports Hon. Nii Lantey Vanderpuye has visited a former national soccer teams coach Mr. Emmanuel Kwesi Afranie at the Korle-Bu hospital and assured that government would liaise with his family to ensure that “a national hero” is given the necessary healthcare.
The Youth and Sports Minister’s visit followed reports that the experienced coach, who has managed almost every national soccer team of the nation is on sick admission at the hospital.
Upon the visit and seeing his stable condition, the Minister thanked the medical staff at the hospital for the great care exhibited during the short time the ‘’national assert’’ has been on admission. Hon. Nii Lantey Vanderpuye was however not enthused about the unethical manner in which ‘Coach hene’ was portrayed on his sick bed on both social media and online sources.
The Sports Minister noted that a national awardee of E.K Afranie’s status should be treated with all respect and dignity in this moment of his health.
As a former Technical Director of Sports at the Ministry, Hon. Vanderpuye said the Ministry has a responsibility towards him to ensure that he fully recuperates.
