The Ghana Football Association (GFA) in conjunction with RGG Sports LLC and its partners have today launched the Ghana Football Business Expo at the World Trade Centre in Accra.
The purpose of the Business Expo is to attract various investors to Ghana during Ghana’s scheduled international football friendlies between USA and Mexico in Connecticut and Houston respectively.
The Expo would also help promote Ghanaian businesses on the international market by creating an opportunity for business partnerships between Ghana and the two countries involved during and after the matches.
Speaking at the launch, the Deputy Minister for Youth and Sports, Mr. Pius Enam Hadzide commended the GFA and its partners for putting up the initiative that has the capacity to contribute to the economy of the country by boosting Ghanaian businesses both home and abroad.
The Deputy Minister stated that sports is an avenue for economic growth, job creation, promotion of healthy lifestyles among others, adding that the initiative is very much in line with one of the Ministry’s objectives of harnessing the power of sports for national development.
While assuring the GFA and the organizers of the Expo of government’s backing, Mr. Hadzide called on Ghanaians in the US especially those in and around Connecticut and Houston to come rally behind the Black Stars when the team take on the US and the Mexican national teams on 1st July and 28th June 2017 respectively.
The Minister for Business Development, Hon. Ibrahim M. Awal lauded the organizers of the Expo and urged Ghanaian businessmen and women to come on board and see the Expo as an opportunity to establish in the US markets while attracting investors to Ghana.
Present at the launch were Head of the US Trade Commercial Service, Madam Tyranena Holley, Managing Director of World Trade Centre, Mr. Doni Kwame, the Head Coach of the Black Stars, Mr. Kwesi Appiah, and other important dignitaries.
