The Secretary of State-in-Charge of Civic Services from Cote d‘Ivoire, Hon. Siaka Ouattara and his entourage have called on the Minister for Youth and Sports, Hon. Isaac Kwame Asiamah at the Ministry today.

Welcoming the delegation, the Youth and Sports Minister, who doubles as a member of Parliament (MP) for Atwima Mponua constituency in the Ashanti Region expressed his joy seeing the Ivorian Minister and his team being a part of the 13th Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Forum 2018 organized by the Head of States Awards Scheme.

In a further political experience-sharing discourse, the Minister said one of the major challenges facing the continent was how to re-orient the youth and to ensure Africa has a pool of dedicated young people who prioritize development on the continental front.

Hon. Isaac Kwame Asiamah added that, a population dominated by the youth is obviously a backbone for a productive workforce which needed to be economically enhanced. This, the Minister noted will in turn, improve the fortunes of the African continent.

The Youth and Sports Minister cited unemployment, lack of skills and quality education as some of the major threats to Youth development.

In view of these, the Minister stated the need to find space for the youth to ward off zealous and over ambitious people who look to exploit these arenas to cause instability on the continent.

He noted that, as players in the political circles (Ministers, Politicians and Government) they owe it a duty to secure the future of young people adding that “as leaders, it is a huge responsibility to imbibe in the youth a high sense of patriotism and nationalism”.

Hon. Isaac Kwame Asiamah said majority of young people prefer travelling abroad, specifically Europe to seek greener pastures, oblivious of that fact that those out there have sacrificed to put their respective countries on a certain pedestal.

The Secretary of State-in-charge of Civic Services, Hon. Siaka Ouattara thanked the Minister and his outfit for the warm reception and took the opportunity to congratulate him for his appointment by the President, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo adding that the visit was worthwhile and the political education would be instrumental in the administration of his office.
