The Ministry of Youth and Sports on behalf of Government and the people of Ghana wishes the Black Maidens and the Black Queens the best of performance as both teams prepare to compete in the 2018 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Uruguay and the 11th Total Women’s AFCON Ghana 2018 tournaments respectively.
While the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup tourney kicks-off on Tuesday 13th November 2018, the 11th Total Women’s AFCON which is being hosted in Ghana, also commences on Saturday 17th November 2018.
This year’s FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup will be the 6th appearance for the Black Maidens on the global stage. It is the belief of the Ministry that the Maidens will use such glorious opportunity not only to exhibit their rare talents, but more importantly, to showcase Ghana as a preferred sports destination.
To the Black Queens, having been a strong force to reckon with on the continent, we are very hopeful that this year’s competition will present the Queens, a brighter chance to ride on the huge home support, prove their worth, take on match after match and put the icing on the hosting cake by doing their country and themselves proud.
To this end, the Ministry wishes to assure of Government’s fullest commitment as two of our national teams embark on these exciting challenges to make our country proud.
The Ministry also wishes to appeal to all Ghanaians to offer their unflinching support to both teams. For our Queens, we believe the presence of supporters at the stadium will be a huge confidence booster for the team to ride on to victory in every match.
Go Black Maidens!
Go Black Queens!
