The family of the late Mr. John Eshun and representatives of the Ghana Retired Footballers Association of Ghana called on the Sector Minister to officially announce the final funeral rites of the former Black Stars captain who passed on Tuesday, 6th November, 2018 in his home at Kojokrom in Takoradi after a short illness.

Known for being the former skipper of the male Senior National Team, the late footballer made several appearances as a defender in two FIFA World Cup qualifying matches and also played at the 1968 and 1970 African Cup of Nations finals.

Having exhibited hard work and resilience, he represented Ghana at the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City and the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich and performed admirably.

The Ministry acknowledges his sense of patriotism and commitment to the nation and on behalf of H.E President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the Government of Ghana, extends its heartfelt condolences to the family and everyone affected by this immeasurable loss in this moment of grief and pledged Government’s support towards the funeral.
