The Deputy Minister for Youth and Sports, Hon. Curtis Perry Okudzeto and the President of the Ghana Olympic Committee, Mr. Ben Nunoo Mensah have engaged sports journalists on the need for them to promote Ghana’s sporting disciplines through positive reportage.

Addressing the sports journalists, Hon. Curtis Perry Okudzeto
indicated the commitment of Government to ensure a holistic
development of sports in Ghana. He outlined various measures
instituted by government to solve Ghana’s sporting infrastructure
deficit.

“We are currently building 10 regional sporting stadia and renovating existing ones. We are not just focusing on developing infrastructure but also ensuring that athletes get the needed opportunity to develop their skills” he said.

“As Sports Journalists you have an obligation to help make sports
attractive, this you can do by highlighting the positive things
happening and not to make it your mission to always dwell on the
negatives” he added.

The Deputy Minister also used the opportunity to admonish the Ghana Olympic Committee to organize workshops for attaché to sports federation and sport journalists in general.

The President of the Ghana Olympic Committee used the opportunity to announce various programmes of the Committee scheduled for the year and how his outfit intends to strengthen federations.

Present at the meeting was the President of the Ghana Rugby
Association, Mr. Herbert Mensah and top officials of the Ghana Olympic Committee.
