
The Ghana League Club Association (GHALCA) on Tuesday 16th May, 2023 received sets of Jerseys and other sporting wears from the Bank of Ghana in support of women’s football in the country.
Receiving the presentation, the President of GHALCA, Mr Kudjoe Fianoo expressed his excitement and appreciation to the Central Bank for responding favourably to their call and to support them with the procurement of a set of 20 Jerseys and other sporting wears.
In a keynote address, the Minister for youth and sports, Hon Mustapha Ussif reiterated the commitment of the government to provide infrastructure which is the fundamental need for sporting activities in the country.
He commended the Ghana Football Association and GHALCA for the roles their continue to play to develop football in the country.

On his part the President of the Ghana Football Association, Mr. Edwin Simeon Okraku indicated that the support will go a long way to help the clubs and will enhance the game tremendously.
He recounted the days when women football was a hidden product until 1999 when the Black Queens made it to their first ever World cup adding that the necessary awareness about women football was then created and there is the need to grow the product.
He called on other organisations to come on board with their support to help develop women football in the country.
The head of Human Resource of the Bank of Ghana, Mrs. Gladys Awuku noted that it was the culture of the Bank to provide support as part of their corporate social responsibility for development not only women football but also other activities worthy of support.

She said the bank supported a worthy cause with an amount of Ghc300,000 which was premised on the request from GHALCA.
Present at the event was the Chief Director of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Mr. William Kartey and other officials of the Ministry.
