On Wednesday 16th August, 2023, the Ambassador of Colombia to Ghana, H.E Daniel Garces Carabali paid a courtesy call on the Youth and Sports Minister, Hon Mustapha Ussif at his office to introduce himself and to deliberate on issues of mutual benefit to the respective countries.

The Minister welcomed him to Ghana and congratulated him on his appointment as the new Ambassador and stated that it was a great privilege to serve in Ghana regarding the long-standing bilateral relationship.

He seized the opportunity to inform him about the upcoming first ever standalone African Para Games being organized by Ghana as a precursor to the African Games and scheduled to begin from 3rd to 12th September, 2023 and the African Games to begin on 8th to 23rd March, 2024.

He said, the country is expecting about 5,000 athletes and officials for the African Games and any support from the Colombian government to make the hosting and organization of the Games a resounding success will be very much appreciated.

He indicated that in order to sustain the good relationship between the two countries, he would spearhead the organization of exchange programmes such as study tours and sports training programs which already exists between their two institutions and should be scaled up for the benefit of their youths.

On his part, the Colombian Ambassador expressed his gratitude to the Minister and intimated that it was important for him to call on the Minister to discuss issues which will enhance further cooperation between Ghana and Colombia.

He said, he would ensure that the memorandum of understanding that had been signed between their countries will be activated or engagements initiated to sign a new one.
