On Thursday 17th August, 2023 the Minister for Youth and Sports, Hon Mustapha Ussif led a delegation of officials from the Ministry to pay a courtesy call on the overlord of the Ga State and President of the Ga Traditional Council, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II at his private residence in Accra.

The purpose of the visit, was to solidarize with him ahead of the annual celebration of the Homowo festival which is scheduled for Saturday 19th August, 2023 and also to commiserate with him on the death of his father.

The Minister noted that, it was important to call on the King in this time of grief and to console him on the demise of his father and as the Homowo festival draws close it was appropriate to pay homage to the royal family.

 

For his part, His Royal Highness, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II expressed his gratitude to the Minister for aligning himself to the culture and tradition of the Ga state and indicated that he was well aware of the good policies of the Ministry to help turn the fortunes of the youth around.

He further noted that, the Ga state is in the state of mourning since the Ga Manye, Naa Dedei Omaedru III has also passed on and therefore the Ga state will celebrate this year’s Homowo in solemnity according to custom.

He used the opportunity to invite the Minister to be part of the celebrations and noted that the he will communicate the dates of the two funerals to the Minister in due course.
The Minister then signed the book of condolence for the father of the King to remember his good works on earth and also expected to sign the book of condolence for the late Ga Manye at the Ga traditional Council in Kaneshie in due course.
