On Wednesday 29th May 2024, the High commissioner of India to Ghana, H.E Manish Gupta called on the Minister for Youth and Sports, Hon Mustapha Ussif to discuss issues of interest relating to the youth and sports sectors of their respective countries.
During their discussion, both parties acknowledged the critical role that the youth play especially in the development of their respective countries and agreed to foster collaborations to provide opportunities to the youth to enhance their prospects of growth.


According to the High Commissioner, the number of Indians resident in Ghana clearly shows the cordial relationship that exists between the two countries and expressed his commitment to enhance the relationship.
He was confident of opportunities for cooperation also within the services sector. He felt Ghana was going through a similar digital transformation India experienced not long ago.
On his part, the Minister for youth and sports indicated the need for holistic development not only in the area of sports but also education and capacity building for the youth in Ghana by way of exchange programmes and other arrangements to build the capacity of the youth in entrepreneurship and enterprise development.
He called on the High Commissioner to consider a programme in technology since India has expertise in that area, to help the youth of Ghana leverage on modern tools and methodologies in order to be competitive on the global stage.
Hon. Ussif underscored the need to build synergy between the two countries and help the youth grow through sports competitions and also collaborate to use sports as a vehicle to create opportunities for the youth.


They arrived at a common commitment for a cooperation agreement prioritizing youth and sports development through aligning strategies, leveraging resources, and fostering partnerships to empower the Ghanaian and Indian youth to excel.
