The executives of the Sports writers’ Association of Ghana (SWAG) on Wednesday 26 February, 2025 paid a courtesy call on the Minister for Sports and Recreation in his office in Accra to discuss issues in relation to the development of sports.
The President of the Association, Mr. Kwabena Yeboah expressed his excitement on the confirmation of Hon. Kofi Adams as the sector Minister and took the opportunity to congratulate him on his appointment.
He noted that, SWAG had enjoyed an excellent relationship with the Ministry in the past and was hopeful the relationship would be extended to the current administration expressing his conviction that the Minister would succeed in his position.

He stated that, though the Black Stars couldn’t qualify to the 2025 AFCON which was a massive disappointment to Ghanaians, he was of the firm belief that the team could re-strategize to qualify for the 2026 World cup through the leadership of the Minister.
The Minister for Sports and Recreation, Hon. Kofi Adams noted that, sports is a big industry that is endowed with a lot of opportunities and advised sports administrators to position themselves to take part of the numerous opportunities sports could offer.
He stressed that, the media plays a key role in the development of sports without which the growth of sports will remain stunted and charged the executives of SWAG to endeavour to focus on the positives rather than denigrate the industry advising the media to be circumspect in their commentary and reportage.

He expressed his commitment to collaborate with the executives to amplify the development of sports since the media landscape has become broader and diverse and could carry all the events and activities to the public.
He reiterated his commitment to the re-introduction of school sports since that is the only way through which the foundation of sports could be well strengthened.
