The executives of Ghana Armwrestling Federation led by the President, Mr. Charles Osei Asibey called on the sector Minister responsible for Sports and Recreation, Hon. Kofi Adams on Tuesday 25th February, 2025 at the conference room of the Ministry.
The purpose of the visit was to formally introduce the executives to the Minister and congratulate him on his appointment to the office of Minister for Sports and Recreation.
Speaking at the meeting, the President mentioned that the executives have no doubts about the capability of the Minister to develop sports in Ghana including the least financed sports.



He appealed to the Minister to give special attention to Armwrestling since it was the discipline that provided Ghana with 41 medals at the 13th African Games which was the most medals the country received for any discipline and has the potential of providing more laurels for the country in future competitions.
He pledged the support of the executives of armwrestling to the Minister and assured him of their quest to make him succeed in his role as Minister for the Sports and Recreation.
Hon. Kofi Adams expressed so much joy in receiving the executives touting their expertise and quality of leadership they are endowed with since most of their members hold high positions in continental and global levels which has translated into the sterling performance of the sport.




He noted that, much as the discipline is recognised as a recreational sport, it has proven its capacity as a competitive sport and has given the country so much pride by winning medals in their participation in every competition.
He reiterated his commitment to develop grassroots sports adding that sports can only be developed well when attention is given to the foundation stressing his intention to encourage mass participation of sports.
According to the Minister, the Ministry is in the process of re-categorizing the various federations into national, continental and global participation by assessing their potential and resources needed to provide the country with laurels.
