On Wednesday, (May 19, 2021), the Minister for Youth & Sports, Hon. Mustapha Ussif received the Ambassador of Italy to Ghana in his office to discuss issues of relative importance to the two countries as far as sports and youth development is concerned.
In his welcome remarks the sector Minister expressed profound gratitude for the visit and noted that there were a number of areas that the two countries could collaborate to bring about development in the youth and sports sectors.
He said Italy is a nation noted for excellence in sports especially football and was therefore important to deliberate on ways the two countries could benefit mutually from each other.
According to the Minister, another area which is worth considering is the establishment of three sports academies to be located in the Southern, Middle and Northern sectors of the country and would be grateful if the two countries could enter into a Public Private Partnership (PPP) agreement to realize the execution of the project.
The Italian Ambassador, H.E Daniela d’Orlandi was grateful to the Minister and reiterated the willingness of her outfit to collaborate with the Ministry to improve sports and youth development.
She congratuled Ghana for having been chosen to host and organise the 2023 Africa Games.
