The Local Organizing Committee (LOC), has unveiled the official Mascot, Song and Website for the 11th TOTAL Women’s Africa Cup of Nations tournament to be hosted in Ghana from November 17th to December 1st, 2018.

The Mascot, christened “Agorohemaa” (Game Queen) will be the iconic figure during the two-week football showpiece.

Unveiling the Mascot, the Youth and Sports Minister, Hon. Isaac Kwame Asiamah (MP) explained the rationale behind the Eagle as the icon of the Mascot. The Minister said the Eagle epitomizes courage, strength, focus and immorality with its high-flying instincts. “With the high-flying mentality of the eagle, You and I are going to be brave, more creative, insightful and visionary”, He added.

Hon. Isaac Kwame Asiamah also reiterated that Ghana would be demonstrating its hospitality traits to the rest of Africa and beyond when the tournament gets underway.

The event also saw the release of the official tournament song titled ‘We are Champions’ which was composed by Ghanaian songstress, Wiyaala, Gospel Musician Grace Ashey and good old Akosua Agyapong.

The Chairperson of the LOC, Hon. Freda Prempeh noted that the Mascot’s name, which is a combination of two Twi language words: Agoro (play) and hemaa (Queen), literally means, “Game Queen”.
